Who I am...

My photo
I am a Thirty-Something year old mother of two lil boys who are are entertaining and energetic as they can be. I have to admit I live a fairly charmed life; and really have nothing that I should complain about. You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

Sitting at work today, thinking about all the things that I need to be doing....... Cleaning my house, Getting things ready for fall semester, deciding on full time work, school, both....... I wish there was a way to add about ten hours to each day. Then MAYBE I would get things done. But probably not. For those of you who think people who work basically full time, attend school full time and have children are crazy....... You would be correct!

My boys are amazing with my crazy schedule ( Isaac especially) He is old enough that he gets it, he doesnt always like it, but he knows what the end goal is. We are planning our family vacation for September this year and Isaac's main concern was "Mom you will have to miss class, you can't do that!"  I hope that his watching me work my way thru school so late in life will give him that drive later on to do it early!

This summer has been a nice break however. I took time off from school to deal with my Cardiac issues and to honestly be able to spend some much needed time with my boys. Unfortunately as time always does it has went far to quickly and I feel that I haven't spent nearly enough time with them and far too much time at work.
While money is a key ingredient in life rather we like it or not, I would give up many of the things that I think I cant live with out ie: pedi, mani, and my routine hair coloring among other things if it meant I could spend days at home with my boys.  I have a sign in my house that says "Dear lord please remind me to never get so busy making a living , that I forget to make a life."  I have to stop and look at the sign on occassion and remember to remind myself what is important and what really matters in the long run. My boys are getting so big already, Isaac will be ten in august and Jack is starting to have that independent I dont need my momma streak that seems to hit around the age of three. I dont want to miss any more of their lives then I have to!

Cleanliness is next to......

OCD.... The term that most of my friends have pinned on me. And yes I admit I am a tiny bit over the top when it comes to cleaning. But I prefer CDO. Everything is order remember?

When did it become a crime to enjoy having nice clean things?
When did wanting you kids to grow up in an organized orderly manner become so un heard of?

I have to admit I have gotten better ( only because with my work and school sched. I had no choice) and yet the cleanliness of my house has gotten worse. So what if my saturday plans are to clean my house... I will be enjoying it come Saturday night. To me that beats any alcohol, band or movie/dinner night out you could throw my way.

I am the person who loves to walk down the cleaning aisle at walmart because it smells SOO good! I get excited over NEW and IMPROVED cleaning products and I take a great deal of pride and accomplishment out of clean dishes, no dirty laundry and everything being dusted and in its place.

So what if I own almost every febreeze airfreshener out there ( and they are organized by color of the lid) My house probably smells better then yours ;-).
Is it really a big deal that I put things away a certain way by shape or color?  I bet I can find things easier then you.

I just really hate when people say " oh your cleaning again."  Lets just get one things straight.... YES I am cleaning again... and YES I do have better things to do, but I am an adult and no one else is going to come along behind me and clean up after me anymore.

So when you visit my home, and I say ignore the mess.... just shake your head and smile because my idea of a mess may be your idea of squeeky clean. :)

The Life of a little Leaguer.....

This summer was Isaac's first summer to play Little League. Having played t-ball, and coaches pitch every year since he hit the age bracket Isaac has looked forward to baseball every summer.

This year we opted to play at Flora in the Flora-Louisville Little League.I will admit I was a little apprehensive only because lets be honest we all know those families and those parents who see winning as everything, who push their children to the brink of rebellion and those coaches who have never heard of good sportsmanship.

I had heard the horror stories of how serious the people in Flora took their little league ( may I add in here... LITTLE LEAGUE people....) and I worried that maybe Isaac wouldn't fit in because of his inexperience, since clay city isnt known for its die hard summer rec programs. But he hit the ground running and has enjoyed every minute.

He may not be the most experienced player on the field but he has just as much fun and has learned just has much and maybe more than some of the other boys. We have also met some amazing families and Isaac has not only learned new things, but made new friends!

Being one of the youngest teams in the league our team has taken its knocks, but having watched them all summer I can say... ( slightly biasedly) that they have shown great improvement and last night showed that they can pull together and cheer on their team with excitement!

Last night Isaac got two hits (this was a first for him this season) and had two RBI's which made him a very excited and happy little boy. I know he has much to learn and alot of room for improvement, but I can say with all honesty I am proud to not be one of "those parents" who demands perfection from my child. The fun is in the learning.

So tonight as we prepare for his last regular game of the season I will remind him that win or lose; its all about having fun and making friendships. The winning (when we win) is just a perk of the fun they should be having, not the other way around!

So Good Luck VFW little Leaguer's you have played a great season!

I will let you know how tonight goes.... win or lose :)
