Who I am...

My photo
I am a Thirty-Something year old mother of two lil boys who are are entertaining and energetic as they can be. I have to admit I live a fairly charmed life; and really have nothing that I should complain about. You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr.

The Life of a little Leaguer.....

This summer was Isaac's first summer to play Little League. Having played t-ball, and coaches pitch every year since he hit the age bracket Isaac has looked forward to baseball every summer.

This year we opted to play at Flora in the Flora-Louisville Little League.I will admit I was a little apprehensive only because lets be honest we all know those families and those parents who see winning as everything, who push their children to the brink of rebellion and those coaches who have never heard of good sportsmanship.

I had heard the horror stories of how serious the people in Flora took their little league ( may I add in here... LITTLE LEAGUE people....) and I worried that maybe Isaac wouldn't fit in because of his inexperience, since clay city isnt known for its die hard summer rec programs. But he hit the ground running and has enjoyed every minute.

He may not be the most experienced player on the field but he has just as much fun and has learned just has much and maybe more than some of the other boys. We have also met some amazing families and Isaac has not only learned new things, but made new friends!

Being one of the youngest teams in the league our team has taken its knocks, but having watched them all summer I can say... ( slightly biasedly) that they have shown great improvement and last night showed that they can pull together and cheer on their team with excitement!

Last night Isaac got two hits (this was a first for him this season) and had two RBI's which made him a very excited and happy little boy. I know he has much to learn and alot of room for improvement, but I can say with all honesty I am proud to not be one of "those parents" who demands perfection from my child. The fun is in the learning.

So tonight as we prepare for his last regular game of the season I will remind him that win or lose; its all about having fun and making friendships. The winning (when we win) is just a perk of the fun they should be having, not the other way around!

So Good Luck VFW little Leaguer's you have played a great season!

I will let you know how tonight goes.... win or lose :)
